Social Media in the Enterprise

I get this all the time. “Companies are now seriously looking at Social Media.”

When I ask in what manner it is used, the answer usually revolves around a customer-facing perspective that furthers a company’s marketing strategies.

In truth, Social Media in general can be used to address two  facets of a business.

Social Media Marketing = Customer facing, brand building

Enterprise 2.0 = Internal processes, open communication and collaboration
